Free PIM software: 6 options and their limits
"Free" means different things for a PIM: a free SaaS plan with limits, or open-source software you host yourself. Here is what each option gives you for free and where the catch is, from each vendor's own site (checked 14 October 2026). LynkPIM publishes this page and is one of the six.

Free SaaS plan or open source?
Open source has no licence fee, but someone has to install it, keep it updated and secure, and build or buy the connectors to your shop. That is a good trade if you have developers and want full control. Without them, a free SaaS plan is usually cheaper in practice: the limit is on catalog size, connectors or features rather than on your team's time.
Before choosing, list the channels you need on day one and check whether each connector is included in the free option. Then see what the price becomes at two to three times your current catalog.

Is there a completely free PIM?
Yes, in two forms. Open-source PIMs (Akeneo Community Edition, UnoPim, and Pimcore Community for companies under €5M revenue) have no licence fee but you pay for hosting and development. Free SaaS plans (Plytix Standard, Ergonode Free, LynkPIM up to 25 products) need no hosting but are limited in some way.
Which free PIM is best for a small Shopify or WooCommerce store?
If you have no developer, a free SaaS plan is simpler than open source. Check whether the connector for your shop is included: in LynkPIM it is, in Plytix the Shopify connector is a paid add-on, and in UnoPim it is a paid extension.
Why is LynkPIM's free tier limited to 25 products?
So you can run a real pilot with every feature, including the channel connectors, before paying. Above 25 products the price is per product, and each band's rate applies only to the products inside it.
