Is the template free?

Yes. It is free, needs no signup, and the file is built in your browser.

Which columns are required?

The core columns (sku, title, description, brand, category, price, currency and status) are always included because every channel needs them. Which of the others you need depends on the channel and the product type.

Can I add my own columns?

Yes. Add them in your spreadsheet after you download. Keep names lowercase with underscores so they import cleanly into a PIM or a feed.

How should I fill in variants such as sizes and colors?

Use one row per variant, give each its own sku, and use the same item_group_id on every variant of one product.

Why do my GTINs lose their leading zeros?

Spreadsheets treat codes as numbers and drop leading zeros. Format the gtin column as text before you paste values in.

Will it import straight into Google Shopping or Shopify?

The core names are close to common formats, but each channel has its own column names. Use the feed generator to turn this data into a Google or Meta feed.
